I am sewing

Well, I started this blog but actually haven't updated it yet. There is a good reason, which will be revealed next week probably. I have been sewing like a dog, all weekend and most evenings this week. I think I have sewer's headache - that or it's time I got some good lighting, maybe those fancy curly halogen ones I saw at the Stitch and Knit show in London. Anyway, at work now and would much rather be home in my flat sewing the world away. Next project is to finish the cool 'Paola' dress from a Burdastyle pattern, my skirt for Cuba (clock is ticking...!!) and my sister's dress. Then I can start self-teaching myself pattern drafting as well as start on my vintage deconstruction/reconstruction plans. So many things to do, so little time, or whatever Willy Wonka said.

But, anyway dear void, I will post my project photos up next week and then this blog will really actually get going.

Mission...GO!

Right, so this is my mission to become an expert seamstress. My Mum, dog and sewing bud Tori, would all probaby say, "but DL, you already are an expert seamstress" and yes, I possibly am, but my tiresome amounts of unpicking kind of prove otherwise, oh and the small matter that I am yet to make trousers or become friends with my overlocker, oh and I probably would get laughed at if I applied for the Dream Course (DC = BA course in Costume Production at RADA) any time soon. So, all in all, I have a fair amount to master before I even print out my application form and say yo, I'm bringing it RADA! Anyway, I just thought it would be cool to document my construction of different garments from start to finish and maybe get some feedback/forum going amongst other likeminded sewers. Hopefully, this blog may also fall upon the eyes of people who know what they're doing and can offer tips and advice, or maybe just people who feel sorry for me for writing about sewing. I'm happy with any kind of attention, really. Right, first up for discussion is my already made first attempt at a tailored jacket...
